New Tutorial Video for Amigurumi Crochet in Joined Rounds

Posted 08/06/2011
Category Amigurumi Tutorials and Technique, Videos

I finally busted out the mini-tripod and made a new tutorial video for joining rounds in amigurumi. Check out my snazzy new video editing skills, complete with fade in and fade out!

I’ll put together a page shortly with an image based overview as well but wanted to get this posted sooner rather than later since there have been a lot of questions on this lately. Enjoy!

Great video! Can’t wait to try it and the bad company patterns :D

I have a question though, is it possible to crochet a cube shape without doing it in panels?

Yes there is and there are two basic ways of doing it. This is one http://crochet-mania.blogspot.com/2008/04/blog-post_16.html which is not exactly square/cube in shape, and the other is what I do which is a bit complicated to explain here but I may do a tutorial. Essentially if you look at my companion cube pattern, make one of those panels, then SL ST around using two SL STs in each corner, then SC in the back loop only skipping the corner stitch and substituting a CH, contuning that around and the bottom instead of doing it in decreases, do another pattern and stitch it on, you get a squarer shape.

Thank you for this video! I have been struggling with joining rounds so much! I also didn’t know that the seam is normal. Thought i was doing something wrong. Thanks again!

Thank you! I’ve been so annoyed with my rounds because I was counting the CH 1 as a stitch. Thank you!!!!

0__0 I didn’t even know there was a difference. I’ve just been doing spiral this whole time. Absolutely great an informative video. Also your magic ring was really interesting and the way you work/hold the yarn, I’ve been doing it the way I saw in another tutorial.

Lots of people say the way I hold yarn is weird, but everyone does it differently. I tend to work that way because of the stress injuries in my left hand and because I like really tight stitches, but pretty much every method works out relatively the same.
