I recently started using cotton yarn for bodies and bases and I absolutely love it! Though I confess, I still prefer steam-killed acrylic for some clothing because it drapes a little better.

But... where on earth are you finding this stuff off-the-shelf? The only store around here that carries it is Jo-Ann Fabrics, and they ONLY carry the huge balls and then, only in bright/neon colors and bleached white (while I tend to need assorted skin tones, dark greens/reds/browns, etc.).

I know I can get it online, but I simply will not order a yarn, especially a yarn with a dye lot, that I've never seen in person before, since the colors are never what I think they'll be. :\

These colours are AMAZING! Thanks for the yarn explanations and all, it helped me soooo much during my yarn hunt. Doityarns.com is a lifesaver, cheap yarn is basically impossible to find in the UK - 4£ a skein is a bit much for me to be honest. D'you know of any websites who might ship Bernat Handicrafter Cotton to Europe?

The Platinum is a grey colour so any sameish thickness grey yarn will work. Peaches n' Cream has several different greys and there may be some other brands. Worse come to worse you can always use a different fibre like wool or acrylic if those are the only types of yarn you can find a colour in. Peaches n' Cream and Lily Sugar & Cream both offer a red and again, you can substitute another fibre or brand. Truffle is a very dark brown. Unfortunately Spinrite, the people who make Bernat Handicrafter Cotton, don't seem to value consistency in their solid colours and don't always list them or offer them regularly. The Truffle and Platinum were one time weird finds and the Christmas red seems to be a seasonal thing only available at Christmas time. Good luck!

I was looking at Bernat's website, and most of the colors listed here (such as platinum, truffle, and christmas red for Mr. Bubbles) aren't in their catalog.

Do you have any color substitution suggestions?

Thanks!
