Slip Stitch Surface Crochet for Details

These videos demonstrate how to use slip stitches to create surface crocheted details. The technique is used in a few of my patterns but most notably in the Big Daddy which has elbows created from slip stitches.

Thank you for this wonderful tutorial. I have a great book of amigurumi patterns that use a lot of surface crochet. I just went to the instructions to do that part of a pattern, but they are both inaccurate and incomplete. Uggh! So grateful for what you’ve shared…I followed along easily, my surface stitches look great, and I can continue with the project, and even embellish a bit more. Yay!!! Thank you again!!!

I was worried when I started working the pattern. But now watching the video explains it and makes perfect sense. Thank you for posting it! 🙂

Thank you for this idea. I was thinking of using a Front Post Double Crochet, I has worked for me in the past. But from what you did here look like something I would call a Front Post Single Crochet. Thanks
