Sorting the yarn stash… NobyNoby Boy approves
The initial idea was to fill a 9 space cubby hole thing with yarn like in the stores, all bright and pretty stacked neatly on display, however avalanches, dust bunnies and inevitable catfuzz tumbleweeds have made me rethink this storage strategy. Random bags stuffed to the gills, strewn about the house just weren’t cutting it anymore, so I bought bins for the cubbies and sorted by color into marked the bins.
The big balls are stacked on their own in their own tight little cubby with some odds and ends and there was even room left over to afford some shelter for some of the newly acquired figurines since the kid has run out of Otaku shelf space.Husband came up with the idea of tying yarn to the handle to identify the colors contained within, brilliant yes?
smart. with my slop of a yarn tub, i usualy have to dig for a few minutes, reroll up some lose tails before they knot up…..and hope to find the color I’m looking for. I can’t beleave I didn’t think up something like that! it leaves more amigurumi crocheting time! cool!
Haha, I love the little otaku collection! I’m starting to run out of shelf space for my figurines, too…
Hi! I enjoy your patterns and am hoping to attempt the Chiyo-Chichi one. 🙂
Question: where did you find Lily Sugar & Cream yarn? According to the Michael’s website, it’s not carried in Canada.
Yay! Chiyo-Chichi has been getting some love lately and that rules 🙂 He’s always been one of my favorites. I buy my Lily Sugar & Creme yarn at marymaxim.ca and herrschners.ca. Both websites carry it and have importing licenses to Canada so they can ship through USPS (which means it gets here via Canada Post), charging appropriate taxes at the checkout and selling in Canadian dollars. It makes buying easier with no nasty customs expense surprises. It drives me nuts that Spinrite, a Canadian company, does not distribute Lily Sugar & Creme yarn, a yarn made in Canada by this Canadian company, in Canada much. I don’t get it. For what it’s worth Bernat Handicrafter Cotton (available at most Michael’s, Walmarts and Zellers) is roughly the same, possibly a bit lighter weight but not noticeably so, so if it’s a colour you can find BHC in (white, off white, orange, mod colours etc.) don’t bother ordering LSC.
Thank you so much! your NobyNoby´s pattern is great!
What a brilliant bin marking system, Bravo! 😉
